Since the age of 12, I’ve been involved in construction work, helping my family with home remodels and (ADUs). Growing up, I learned the value of hard work, responsibility, and earning my keep. While school wasn’t my strongest area, I maintained a steady 3.0 GPA and focused on building real-world skills. I’ve also traveled for work, consistently stepping outside my comfort zone to expand my knowledge and take on new challenges.
My experience spans multiple industries. On offshore oil rigs, I worked as a floorhand—running the rig floor, tripping drill pipe in and out, working the derricks, climbing 90 feet to the monkey board, and racking back pipe. As a port engineer helper, I gained mechanical experience on boats and ships, performing oil changes, replacing impellers, assisting with engine swaps, and completing weekly maintenance.
As a deckhand, I developed strong rigging skills, working under cranes, using hand signals, loading and unloading cargo for offshore rigs, and performing vessel maintenance. I also worked as part of a water taxi crew, transporting passengers to and from oil rigs in rough ocean conditions.
Across all these labor-intensive roles, I’ve learned the importance of proper PPE, 360° awareness, always having an exit plan, and thinking before acting—because one bad step can be the last. My work ethic has always been to work smart and hard, and to be both a team leader and a team player. I believe that with commitment, nothing is too difficult or impossible.
