The most significant qualification I have for the Hospice Liaison position is that in 2022, I was the sole caregiver for my dying father, and no medical professional ever offered or even spoke to us about hospice care. Not his PCP, not his cancer doctor, not any nurse, doctor, or any other medical professional from the hospital. As a patient, my dad could have benefited from hospice care and its medical and professional knowledge and skills. As a caregiver and daughter, I was struggling, emotionally and physically. Hospice could have helped support me in caring for my dad. It would be a gift to be able to make sure medical professionals, patients and caregivers were aware of the support hospice can provide.
Another strength I possess is the ability to build relationships with people. Pharmacies can feel transactional. We have a product the customer needs and the customer pays us for that product. But I am genuinely interested in my customers. I ask about their lives and follow up with them next time I see them. As a result, I have customers who come by every week to see me, just to say hi, One of my customers told her husband, "If I were on a desert island, I'd take Kroger pharmacy with me," in part because of the positive relationships I build with my customers
