As OHH Laboratory Assistant (phlebotomist), I performs specimen accessioning, specimen preparation, clerical registration and phlebotomy duties associated with the laboratory. Interacts with patients, physicians, nurses and laboratory staff including Department Managers, Team Leaders and Administration.

• Observe specimens to determine appropriateness of volume, condition, proper collection and documentation for requested procedures with no more than one failure per month
• Within one hour, verify and clarify with physician and/or nursing staff, conflicting or unclear orders
• Properly prepare specimens for testing according to written protocol
• Distribute specimens to appropriate areas for testing in a timely manner after processing so that results are not delayed
• Document all paperwork with information outlined in the laboratory protocol.
• Scan odors into EMR as needed

• Performed comprehensive inventory management tasks, including ordering supplies as needed and maintaining stock levels for uninterrupted workflow within the lab space.
• Maintained detailed records of all processed samples, including associated patient information, test results, and any follow-up actions taken as needed.
• Consistently met deadlines for reporting results back to healthcare providers, facilitating prompt diagnoses and treatment plans for patients.
• Supported laboratory accreditation efforts by ensuring compliance with all required standards and guidelines during routine inspections or audits.
• Assisted in preparing samples for external testing when necessary, coordinating with outside laboratories to ensure timely processing and result reporting.
