In this week's reading of Spiritual Authority, I learned about God’s authority. Also known as the Will of God, and His physical laws. All things are operated under God’s authority and nothing or no one has power over his authority. Trying to overstep God’s authority is a sin with consequences greater than one who shows lack of respect to God’s holiness. God’s authority is his word, it is of Him. Those who sin against God’s authority sins directly against God.
We must fully understand and accept God’s authority before obedience. As we begin to grow closer to God, the things that we would have typically enjoyed become less appealing to us. If we focus more on God’s authority, we can wholeheartedly do the works for God.
Once we are obedient to God’s authority we rely less on our own understanding. Leaning on our own understanding is disobedience to his Will. God has manifested his authority to the world through the people of the church. Not limited to what role you are in at the church. God’s greatest demand in the Bible was for his people to Obey. Obedience alone is a great honor to God. It shows God that we are allowing him to order out steps.
The laws that are put into place on earth are set up by God. Sunshine, rain, and earthquakes are all examples of God’s laws. God is the creator of all things. We as Christians have to follow the laws and be obedient on Earth as well as to God. There are certain authorities man is under as well. For example, judges, teachers, doctors etc.. are authorities. In the church we are under the authority of our Pastor.
Rebellions against God’s authority is an invitation to Satan. When we are disobedient to God’s authority you have to be careful not to follow Satan's principles. Satan is no fool and he is not threatened by the preaching of the word of Christ, but afraid to be subject to God’s authority.
The Lord’s Prayer, is the highest prayer in which the Lord expresses his obedience to God’s authority. This prayer represents God! The Lord’s Prayer is also the very first prayer learned in my childhood household.
These are some of my takeaways from reading Chapters 1-2
