Selected to join the Special Response Team for Ocean County
Demonstrate a state of readiness in an after-hours capacity to respond to child abuse and neglect referrals and child welfare assessments that require an immediate field response outside of normal operating hours (evenings and weekends)
Receive direct communication from SCR about assignments
Partner with law enforcement to conduct joint field responses as needed
Demonstrate an ability to assess safety and risk and communicate effectively to the SPRU supervisor after hours
Complete reports within timeframes (by 9am the next business day)
Assess overall safety of the home in addition to addressing the stated concerns
Treat all families fairly and respectfully through the process
Intake Investigator (2009 to the present)
Respond to child abuse/neglect referrals and child welfare assessment requests
Upon receipt of a new referral, contact reporting person, interview all children, family and household members and contact collateral resources
Ensure the immediate safety of children
Conduct investigations in compliance with the child abuse/neglect investigative response policy and timeframes
Complete documentation that is strength-based and SBC proficient including the documentation of genograms, individual and family level issues
Assisting families in identifying their strengths and challenges
Collaborate with families to empower them to develop appropriate, individualized and safe action plans
Utilize core practice skills such as genuineness, respect and empathy
Immediately notify supervisor of critical case incidents or situations
Meet with supervisor for case conferences as required
Provide testimony in court as requested
Maintain ongoing communication with service providers
Work collaboratively with community partners to ensure that children are safe, healthy and connected to services
Complete reports within designated time frames
Permanency Caseworker
Ensure the protection and well-being of the children in cases transferred from intake
Ensure the prioritization and organization of caseload activity
Assess safety and risk of caseload on an ongoing basis, using the SDM tools to guide in decision-making and best case practice
Meet with families monthly according the MVR risk level
Work together with unit members to ensure coverage and increase teamwork
Ensure the appropriate permanent plan for each child in placement in accordance with ASFA

An initiative under Governor Christine Todd Whitman, each county in NJ was assigned a Case Assessment Resource Team (CART) tasked to assess for and plan for reducing the lengths of stay for youth in out of home placement. The CART was tasked with developing individualized plan for the return of children to their communities from their out-of-home placements in a more timely manner with intensive, in-home and community based services
