Summary

Accomplished administrative professional known for strong organizational and communication skills. Experienced in facilitating collaboration between departments and managing executive appointments, ensuring effective time management and streamlined operations. Twice cited by different City Managers for Exceptional Customer Service, resulting in an opportunity to exchange ideas over a luncheon in the City Manager's office.

On a later date, the City Auditor recommended me to go to a local location of a nationally-known accounting firm to copy receipts from a construction contractor hired to renovate houses in an area of town near a hospital complex. This project was being audited, and I was given two weeks to complete my work. I completed it within two days.

While working as a receptionist for Procurement Services, I overhauled the online files of Senior Buyers. I also found irrelevant and expired contract files that needed to be boxed and sent to File Management, handled the filing of copies of Purchase Orders and the disbursement of the originals, production of a monthly report of expiring contracts to ascertain which files needed to be taken to the buyers, improving the process of signing in the submissions for upcoming bids for contracts, and helping to tabulate bids. For a short time, I was called upon to take over Accounts Payable so as to investigate legitimate concerns from creditors over possible late payments. The intention of training me to be a Junior Buyer was made known to me by the Division Manager shortly before I was moved to a new division to be the personal assistant to the manager there, as she had no other employees yet. I was still needed to handle the Purchase Orders, which was a twice-a-day procedure. All in all, the most satisfying work I've known was in General Services, where I was able to satisfy my professional curiosities. Other departments provided unforgettable experiences to be sure, but the last phase of my time as a civil servant gave me great enjoyment at discovering skills I hadn't realized I possessed.

As for data entry, I insist on keeping a meticulous record of every document entered. This has served me very well in tracking such entries for the purpose of inter-departmental investigations.

Exceptional Customer Service

The City Managers involved in this program utilized the Secret Shopper service to obtain honest results.  I knew of this, but I had no problems with it as I was in the habit of exercising empathy in order to promote a good rapport with the citizenry.
