Worked in the greenhouse and the lath house to cultivate and care for a wide variety of plants, shrubs and trees. The position involved, watering, fertilizing and caring for the plants within the nursery and helped me to strengthen and expand my knowledge of local flora.
Student worker for a stone masonry workshop at Guadalupe National Historical Park, Texas. The focus of this workshop was the historic preservation of Frijole Ranch, located in the Guadalupe National Historical Park. I worked with a group of students from UNM and Texas A&M to help remove latex paint from a historic ranch house that is located on site. The building had been covered in modern white paint and other detrimental substances that needed to be removed. We worked with tools, power washers and heat guns to remove latex paint from the building and replaced it with a historically accurate white wash while retaining the original stonework. We also worked together to create traditional adobe for the repair of a historic wall that was located nearby.
Assistant to the Collections Manager, Bonnie Verardo. My main task at the UNM Art Museum was to assist in the scanning and cataloging the art collection from the museum's archives and off site storage. I worked to replace the paper catalog system with an online system. I also helped the Assistant Curator, Sheri Sorenson, to photographically document each piece, noting condition flaws and dimensions. I assisted the Collections Manager in documenting and packing outgoing pieces for outside exhibits and for other museums across the country. I helped to install and maintain the Man Ray exhibit in the museum in February of 2010. I also helped to install the I assisted in the building and removal of the exhibit and worked with the exhibit registrar in cataloging the pieces as they were unloaded and hung. During times where no projects were available I worked at the desk of the museum to greet patrons and ensure that the exhibits were undisturbed.
