Culinary Arts & Program Leadership
- Provide CTE instruction and program leadership for approximately 140 students in grades 9–12.
- Serve as an informal leader within a three-teacher culinary department, supporting program planning, budgeting, purchasing, advisory activities, and day-to-day operations.
- Develop TEKS-aligned curriculum, lesson plans, projects, laboratory experiences, assessments, and instructional materials.
- Manage the culinary program budget supporting three teachers and coordinate purchasing for food, supplies, equipment, and facility needs.
- Mentor fellow educators in purchasing procedures, lesson planning, classroom management, meeting planning, and program operations.
- Prepare students for Food Handler certification, with approximately 90% of students earning certification.
- Oversee culinary laboratory operations, equipment, student groups, safety, food preparation, troubleshooting, and completion of hands-on labs.
- Coordinate field trips to college campuses and industry-related destinations to expose students to postsecondary and career opportunities.
Fashion Design
- Taught Fashion Design, serving approximately 100 students annually.
- Developed curriculum, projects, assessments, and hands-on learning experiences.
- Managed purchasing and equipment, including sewing machines, mannequins, and instructional supplies.
- Planned and coordinated annual fashion shows involving 100+ students, including student coordination, garment quality, vendor bookings, budgeting, publicity, and event logistics.
- Coordinated student purchasing trips to JOANN Fabrics, incorporating material selection, budgeting, and project planning.
Education & Training
- Taught courses within the Education & Training CTE program as part of a varied teaching assignment throughout the 16-year tenure.
