• Performs wide range of tasks relevant to inpatient pharmacy operations including pre-packing medications using automated dispensing equipment and manual prepacking for filling inpatient pharmacy orders and daily medication restocks for VA facility.
• Maintains in date medication inventory by making sure on-hands are correct in restock Omnicells and accounts for IV fluids and meds not stored / tracked via omnicell.
• Conducts daily inventory maintenance by accessing restock report via omnicenter and parata canister quantities report and refills stock according to standards set by procurement tech and par level formula created by lead tech.
• 20 years combined pharmacy technician experience at different retail chains which provides an extensive knowledge of brand/generic drug names, storage requirements for different medications and years of experience placing orders, checking in orders, communicating with distributing sources as problems arise, such as back orders or recalls.
• Comprehensive familiarity and working knowledge of medication uses and dosages and identifies issues for pharmacist that may require changing an order or communication with physician.
• Knowledge of Vista and CPRS and uses frequently and proficiently to create BCMA labels for patient prescriptions or medications requiring barcodes. Also conducts barcode checks using Vista to ensure proper scanning for nurses.

Files ward inspection paperwork promptly for supervisor review.
• Maintains current in-date crash cart medication inventory and replaces as they expire, documenting dates and numbered crash cart locations for inpatient crash cart folders and crash cart whiteboard. This includes delivering new in-date crash cart trays to different wards with another technician for verification.
• Pulls expired inpatient medications and segregates as directed by procurement tech for monthly returns.
• Creates friendly working communication with pharmacy coworkers, nurses, and VA staff and works to accommodate their needs expeditiously.
• Answers nursing calls for fluid deliveries, missing doses, omnicell issues, prescription order issues and any other miscellaneous request and attends to promptly when possible or redirects to pharmacist when necessary.
• Assembled inventory for two Omnicell Restock machines which includes adding drugs to Omnicenter, creating PAR levels, rearranging shelving and arranging stock neatly with correct stock rotation and on hand quantities.
• Acquires omnicenter report "Par verses Usage" every week to ensure omnicells are sufficiently stocked for weekend/holiday using par formula.
• Investigates missing barcode scans and identifies and corrects if pharmacy error ; communicating with nurses so we can avoid future missed scans if nursing problem.
