  • I offer peer support to service members, veterans and their families in conjunction with national, state and local service providers.
  • I recruit, train and assign volunteer peer specialist to connect veterans to mental health and recovery resources, employment, housing, education, financial assistance, transportation,and crisis services.
  • I utilize recovery tools that are proven successful and effective for example goals that are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, and Time base. This helps to empower individuals we serve and promotes self -determination.
  • I provide person centered peer services that are unique to the that individual based on their abilities, strengths and recovery goals.
  • I work with individuals who present complex mental health illness, who may require in patient services or may need to be referred to the suicide crisis line which we establish communication and provide warm hand offs.
  • I advocate and promote recovery based services for veterans that are holistic and can be incorporated into everyday life that inspire hope, self-advocacy, education, support and responsibility.
  • I encourage veterans by exemplifying and proving a Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) helps the veteran with daily maintenance, identifying triggers, goal setting, recognizing when things are breaking down or when symptoms are worsening, knowing their medications and what facilities and resources are available in case of a crisis.
  • I assist veterans who may be diagnosed with co-occurring disorders, substance use disorder and mental illness. In my network of care are doctors, nurses, psychiatrist, therapist,clinicians, counselors and peer support specialist. all here to provide care and help the veteran achieve their recovery goals.
  • I facilitate Texas Veteran Commission certified trainings that are peer driven and focused. subjects like: trauma, moral injury, suicide, mental health and self-determination strategies. Endorsed by the Veterans Mental Health Department.
  • I promote individuality in recovery. Each veteran is unique and have goals that are specific to there needs I support there recovery through listening non-judgmentally and recognizing their abilities, support systems, and recovery goals.
  • I conduct support groups four times a week that are curriculum based and one hour long this provides the veteran with positive information to lessen the negative self talk.
  • I refer a veteran to resources that are appropriate to their needs: treatment, VA housing programs, employment, emergency financial assistance, transportation, and nutritional programs
