Summary

Dedicated research scientist with DVM, Ph. D. degree in Animal Science and more than 5 years of experience in research using animal models for cancer diagnosis and treatment. Used novel animal models such as chickens to discover biomarkers for early detection of ovarian cancer. Currently, using genetically modified mice models to conduct pre-clinical drug trials for peripheral neurofibromatosis.

Work History

Postdoctoral Fellow

Cincinnati Children's Hospital and Medical Center
2023.01 - Current
  • Conducting independent research using C57/BL6 NF1 fl/fl DhhCre+ mice to study peripheral neurofibromatosis (PNF). Including pre-clinical drug trials in these mice.
  • Involved in novel projects like flash proton treatment in mice with PNF at Proton therapy center (only one in country for research purposes), Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.
  • Developed and designed multi-color flow panel and executed spectral cytometry assays (18+ colors) using FACSCanto/ LSR Fortessa/ Symphony A5/ Cytek Aurora for identifying immune cell types in PNF tumors.
  • Characterized immune cell types using immunofluorescence (IF) assays (4+ colors) imaging with confocal and super-high-resolution microscopes.
  • Established pipeline for analyzing IF images
  • Scheduled and trained technical staff members and potential Ph.D. students.

PhD Graduate Assistant

Penn State University
2017.08 - 2022.12
  • Developed and conducted unique research using chickens (laying hens) as animal model for ovarian cancer diagnosis and prevention.
  • Collaborated with Actuated Medical ( medical device development company) to detect and collect biopsy samples and develop Photoacoustic System for Identifying Tumor Edges (PSITE).
  • Routinely diagnosed ovarian cancer in chickens using ultrasonogram.
  • Published manuscript using type-setting software (LaTeX, Overleaf).
  • Gained experience in working in BSL-2 lab environment.
  • Acquired knowledge in IACUC protocols and AAALAC accreditation systems.
  • Mentored undergraduate students to develop their laboratory technical skills.
