1. Obtain nursing intake as listed on the standardized patient intake form to include measuring vital
signs, documentation in electronic medical record and initiating standing orders.
2. Provide patient/ family education regarding vaccines, and may recommend care-coordination
opportunities when situation presents itself.
3. Prepare for and assists provider with procedures (e.g. sutures, toenail removal, pelvic exam).
4. Report abnormal assessment findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to
appropriate medical providers.
5. Administer and document vaccines, oral medications and treatments as ordered by provider and
within scope of practice with validated competency. Able to determine state versus private
vaccines.
6. Perform specimen collection (e.g. phlebotomy, capillary draws, and clean catch urine) and CLIA
waived labs according to ESRHS lab competency and document accordingly.
7. Perform DOT and non-DOT drug screens.
8. Perform technical procedures (e.g. EKG, hearing & vision screening) according to competency.
