  • My positions varied throughout the years while I was employed. I was hired as a monitor/receptionist and my duties consisted of checking in the defendants for their appointments with their officers.
  • I would enter into a spreadsheet the time that the defendant reported and to who and what kind of appointment they were reporting for. I would make contact with the officer to report that the defendant was here and what time they reported so that they can enter into their report the time. If the officer was not present I would make contact with managers and other officers to find out who would be completing the office visit and then rely the information to the defendant so that they are aware of the change. I would assist in making and the upkeep of files, update monthly logs, open and distribute mail, and complete any other tasks that the officers and managers needed. I would do daily cleaning so that the defendant and I are in a safe and clean office.
  • I was then selected to begin the DNA/Fingerprinting position. I was responsible for collecting the defendants DNA and fingerprints. I would collect saliva samples and complete fingerprint collections daily and then enter the collection into the CSS system. I would note the time, date, and the offense of the defendant and also note in the defendants file that DNA/Fingerprints were collected. I would send out the samples and fingerprint cards daily and note in the file the date that it was placed in the mail. I was also responsible for reading the out of county defendants the rules and restrictions of reporting out of county and responsible for their signatures. I would make three copies of the rules with the defendants signature on it and then give them one and send one to court and place the original in the file and route it to the officer in charge. I would make daily copies, scans and faxes to other counties to ensure that they received all the necessary documents for the defendant.
  • I was then selected to become a Assistant probation officer. Their duties consist of monitoring a caseload of 300 to 400 offenders that are currently out of county or out of state. Respond to daily emails, phone calls, fax documents, respond to the courts requests. Answering phone calls daily it can be from offenders or out of county offices, ICE, federal probation offices, ignition interlock providers and treatment facilities, defendants attorneys or detectives investigating a case that my defendant could be involved in. Completing daily tasks needed by the court or the defendant. Making contact with defendants to make payment arrangements and collecting of court fees and restitution for the victims. Attending court as ordered and completing any other daily tasks assigned by manager. As well as conducting daily office visits with the defendants and instructing them to submit to urine samples or instructing them to complete certain conditions prior to their expiration date. On top of all those duties every office visit, every email, every phone call, every instruction from a manager or Court had to be entered into the defendants case on CSS. I did open daily mail and made entries into the defendants case and scan in any certificates, acceptance or denial letters from out of county offices, community service hours or proof of payments rendered to the courts. I would complete daily documents to the court in regards to the defendants standing with probation and I would also complete daily filing and tracking of cases being terminated and prepare them for storage. I would make weekly trips to the courts for to make copies of offense reports and complete transfer packets to send to the out county probation offices for acceptance.
