As a first-generation college graduate, I take pride in what I have accomplished so far in my life. I know that if I, who came from a very humble background, can get my college degree, then anybody can.
The reason I chose Bilingual Education as my major with a minor in Special Education, is because I love working with kids. During my college career, Mrs. Pecina (Special Education Professor and Dean) would arrange for us students to visit local elementary schools so that we could gain first-hand knowledge of what being an educator was all about. Needless to say that I fell in love with the profession and along way with my students. "Be the change you want to see" Gandhi once said. I expect to be that change in my students' lives once given the opportunity.
I started as a clerk with The Edinburg Housing Authority, and gradually worked my way to become a Procurement Specialist. As a Procurement Specialist, it was my job to take bids not only for supplies we needed, but also for jobs that were required from different vendors and companies.
I'm able to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently
