Work History

Bakery Service

Wegmans
01.2021 - Current

My job includes packaging, labeling, and slicing bread. I have experience with industrial slicing and basic label machinery. I also have experience using basic bakery equipment such as knives, ovens, and mixers.

Working bakery service at Wegmans has given me experience in customer service. I always ensured that I was meeting the customer's needs; answering questions, slicing bread, taking down orders, etc. If there is ever something that I cannot do, I directed a customer towards someone who could properly assist them.

I also have experience opening and closing the department. This entailed getting products out to be sold quickly and ensuring that everything looked tidy. While closing I made sure that there was enough product out for the night and that all work areas were cleaned properly.

Barn Hand

Jen Deneka
06.2016 - 08.2020

My responsibilities included:

  • Raking bedding to scoop manure and cleaning animal stalls.
  • Handling, walking and brushing horses.
  • Cleaning and refilling feed buckets and waterers.
  • Unloading hay, grain and other goods to neatly store in proper location.
  • Holding horses for veterinarian during health checks and care or for farrier for trimming and shoeing of horse hooves.

Working as a barn hand taught me more responsibility as I was responsible for around 22 horses at a time, each with individual needs. The horses' owners were paying for a service so I was always making sure that the facilities were tidy so that the animals were healthy and safe.

Additional Information

In my Animal Biology class at Corning Community College, I performed a study surrounding birds. In this study I observed the behavior of my backyard birds regarding different colored bird houses. Here I noted behaviors, kinds of birds, and their preferences. I studied the birds a few hours at a time and combined all of my data, drawing conclusions from them. I have always had an affinity towards birds and enjoyed this study very much.
