Company Overview: Co-founded Vets in Vans, a nonprofit, low-cost, high quality, high volume care for the public
As former shelter veterinarians, we discovered that we constantly battled the gap in the community access to veterinary care in urgent care, preventative care, surgeries, dentals, and euthanasias for low income and BIPOC communities
We started a mobile nonprofit organization targeting certain communities in Oakland, Alameda, and San Francisco in order to provide high quality, cost-effective veterinary care to those highest at risk for shelter surrenders and subsequent euthanasias.
Our overarching goal is to decrease shelter intake by filling the gap in access to care and therefore keeping families together with their pets, and decreasing the burden on our local municipal shelters. Within 2 years of operations, we helped almost 7,000 pets receive the medical care they needed without being surrendered to the shelter.
