Caring and patient teacher hoping to help students find the joy in learning mathematics. Successful at explaining difficult concepts in a variety of different ways. Committed to creating engaging lessons and improving students' problem solving skills,
As an intern, I work closely with a team of ninth grade teachers, work with students individually and provide whole class instruction, attend weekly seminars with other interns, and in the Spring, I will be completing a Master's Inquiry Project an two solo weeks in which I will be teaching on my own using materials I have created.
I assessed homework assignments and gave feedback for students taking Exploring Math for Teachers. Grading allowed me to analyze student work and then communicate to the instructor of the course what misconceptions students were having.
At the UNH Math Center, I assisted students with homework and studying for exams in several classes including Calculus I, Calculus II, Finite Math, and Math for Business Applications.
I spent approximately twelve hours a week in a seventh grade mathematics classroom where I provided individual help to students, graded quizzes, created warm-up problems, and reviewed practice problems with the whole class. I was often given the opportunity to substitute for my cooperating teacher which helped me to learn how to manage the classroom on my own.
Through serving I perfected my customer service, communication, teamwork, and multi-tasking skills as well as my ability to work in stressful environments. The job involved being on my feet for up to twelve hours a day.
