With over 20 years at Atascadero State Hospital, I leveraged strong communication abilities and healthcare management skills to improve patient care and team efficiency. As a Registered Nurse and later a Nursing Manager, I excelled in HIPAA compliance and staff development, significantly enhancing treatment plans and interdisciplinary collaboration.
I began my career at Atascadero State Hospital working as a Registered Nurse on a hearing impaired unit with men who have a mental illness from a correctional institution. In that role I developed nursing care plans, assisted the Physicians with sick call, wrote extensive monthly notes, worked with all members of the team to develop effective treatment plans for each individual. I then moved to a nursing management position in the Nursing Office of the Day. In that role I was the liaison between level of care staff and physicians, psychologists, psychiatrists, pharmacists and the dental professionals. I dispensed medications from our office, assisted staff with a myriad of queries including direct nursing care, medication administration, policies and procedures and documentation concerns. I retired from that position after 20 years and am now actively seeking a role in the healthcare system so that I can utilize my skills and expand my skill set as well.
In my role as a Registered Nurse in my 25 years of nursing in various facilities I promoted to management positions and excelled in that role. I am able to communicate effectively with staff, clinical staff, administration and patients. I am able to accept new responsibilities and am an advocate of team building and utilizing resources at hand. I am eager to utilize my skills in a new environment.
