The Technical Specialist is responsible for providing leadership and technical oversight for medical technologists and other lab employees in his/her assigned department unit in the lab.
Responsibilities include patient testing, quality control, instrument maintenance, and technical problem resolution.
This is a professional-level medical technologist position requiring leadership skills, independent judgment, and decision-making.
This position assists in ensuring that the mission of the laboratory regarding quality and service is consistently met.
Bring in and validate/verify new assays and instruments.
Reagent inventory and ordering.
CAP proficiency testing and alternative proficiency testing.
Develop and adjust protocols and panels.
Panels currently run are leukemia and lymphoma panels, HLA-B27s, TBNKs, PNH, and MRD testing.
Reviewing worksheets and dot plots.
Reagent titrations. Run compensations.
Negotiated with vendors to procure high-quality technical resources and services at competitive prices.
