I have had a love of genealogy since I was an elementary school girl in Girl Scouts. The Heritage badge had us research. It stuck with me, and at eighteen I started to really get into as I was told so many of my family members had died of Cancer. I started to analyze it, and realized many were married in members, so it negated a lot of this. But, it helped to track the disorders we were prone to. I have worked on my family as well as roughly 40 others. I am currently collaborating with a family in Texas to verify the Black History of Kerr County. When I began volunteering at the genealogical society, there was a manilla folder with 3-5 pieces of paper for the entire black community. It greatly disturbed me, and I decided to change that. We are currently up to a banker box filled with documentation and charts.
I read mysteries, action, and genealogy based books, with some biographies mixed in. I have several book shelves, as i love the feel of a book in my hand.
I am currently learning Italian, and hope to brush up on my Spanish and ASL again, as it has been many years since I have used either. Then, I want to attempt German. My four children all took German in High school, and will talk about things when they get together they don't want me to know. My great grandfather spoke 7 languages, and I would love to get close to that.
