• Provide perioperative emotional support and comfort to patients undergoing abortion procedures, by employing breathing techniques, active listening, and trauma-informed approaches to enhance patient experience.
• Prepare procedure rooms, assist with patient transport, and coordinate logistics to maintain safety and efficient flow.
• Monitor vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, SpO2) before, during, and after procedures; escalate concerns to clinical staff as needed.
• Assist with post-operative care and recovery—providing wound care guidance, comfort measures, and referrals to support services.

2,300 clinical hours

• Obtain accurate vital signs for pediatric and adult patients — height, weight, temperature, head circumference, pulse, respiratory rate, and SpO2 — to support provider assessments.
• Perform pre-visit screenings including vision, hearing, and mood/behavior assessments, documenting findings for clinician review.
• Collect and process biological specimens (pharyngeal, urine, stool, capillary blood) for point-of-care and laboratory testing, including PCR, urinalysis, hemoglobin, blood glucose, HgbA1c, HCG, lipid panel, and rapid HIV/mononucleosis tests.
• Accurately chart patient histories, vitals, and test results in EPIC and Allscripts; place orders on behalf of providers to expedite care delivery.
• Collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care and efficient clinic workflow.
• Adhere to infection control and specimen-handling protocols and provide clear patient/caregiver instructions for follow-up and test preparation.
• Deliver compassionate, developmentally appropriate care to children, using engagement techniques to reduce anxiety and improve cooperation during procedures.
• Single-handedly designed and implemented a social-determinants screening workflow—creating a screening tool, targeted resource sheets, and an EMR flag—to identify and connect patients to resources for housing, food, utilities, childcare, transportation, and veteran support.
