This is a summary of educational and work experiences. While a resume normally would not include jobs over 10 years ago, this highlights the skills developed over many years.
After marriage in 1987, and the birth of three children in 1989 and 1990, it was necessary to be a stay at home mom to care for a special needs adopted son.
Over the years, various part time and volunteer positions allowed the flexibility to be at home when needed.
When our children finished high school and college, my mother required triple bypass surgery. Due to side effects and follow up surgeries, we became caretakers until she was settled in a senior living complex.
Shortly after my mother was settled, my grandmother became unable to live independently. She resided at our home with so we could care for her over the next eight years. Last year, she required full time skilled nursing at a nearby assisted living facility.
I now have time to do things that are enjoyable.
Interests:
Books
I have loved reading throughout my life. In addition to being an avid reader, I have been an active volunteer for authors and publishing companies. My primary focus was on young adult books. I have maintained a social media presence to publish book reviews and promote authors and new books, set up author tours, functioned as a beta reader to critique books before publishing, helped at conventions, and planned book promotional materials and events.
Horses
I have been riding horses for 30 years.
I own a horse which I ride on trails and train and compete in dressage classes.
Arts and Crafts
I love many types of crafts. Creating wreaths, resin glass art, and stained glass, hand knitting bulky blankets, cross stitch and quilting.
Crochet:
I wanted to learn to crochet. There were no classes in stores due to Covid. I shopped for books. I spent many, many hours online watching YouTube and reading blogs.
I could create the basic stitches, but I couldn't read the patterns or make a completed project.
Finally, after a frustrating year, a yarn shop offered classes. It did not help me. They had no planned project. Some students were experienced and others knew nothing. I came home with no new skills and was ready to give up.
I discovered a different yarn shop that offered Amigurumi classes. The class pattern was three eggs in a basket. I won't describe how I felt when I could not understand the magic circle. The instructor had to complete my circle. It was difficult for the instructor because everyone was working at different levels. I did come home with an egg.
While at the shop, I saw a Woobles kit. I hesitated to spend the money and end up with a failure. So when I went home, googled Woobles, read about your product. I placed my first order.
What a difference! I CAN do crochet! I can even make a magic circle!
This may sound corny to you, but I am so happy with this product. I want to help others to experience the feeling of success. I am not applying for a job. What I would like to do is offer my time and my skills in helping Woobles and all the ladies out there who struggle with this skill.
I don't know your company goals but if it includes selling in more yarn shops then I could help visit companies in Virginia. I have experience setting up and working trade shows. I lived in Apex, NC and we still have friends and family. It would be possible to help out short term at key seasons like Christmas at your NC headquarters. I have experience working with authors and publishers by maintaining blogs, and as a social media influencer. There are many ideas I would like to share with you. If you have the ability to keep stock, Easy Peasy Yarn would be a great product to sell on your page. Many yarn companies sell a set in a cotton tote. Repeat customers could earn points. Maybe a store with keychains or hooks featuring popular Woobles.
I am not asking for a paid position. I am willing to work in exchange for product.
I used to live in Apex, NC and we still have friends and family in. NC. I visit and can't believe the changes! It would be possible to help out sort term at key seasons like Christmas in your NC headquarters.
Thank you for creating such a wonderful product. My goal is to make all the available Woobles. Not counting the gazillion Woobles my grandkids want🙂
Sincerely
Lisa Graziano
