Dorthy Gandy

Private caregiver

09.2023 - 11.2024

I had the honor of caring for Mrs. Gandy for over a year, providing full-time, hands-on assistance due to her advanced dementia. Throughout this time, she was completely dependent on caregiver support for all aspects of daily living.

Mrs. Gandy was unable to feed herself, bathe, or perform any basic care tasks independently. I provided total assistance with meals, ensuring she was fed slowly and safely, with close attention to her comfort and dignity. Bathing was done gently and thoroughly, including full body care, hair washing, and skin maintenance. I dressed her daily, brushed her hair, and ensured she was kept clean, dry, and well-groomed.

She also required full support with toileting and incontinence care. I repositioned her regularly to protect her skin and prevent pressure sores, and I consistently monitored her health and comfort throughout each shift. Verbal communication was limited, but I always spoke to her with kindness, reassurance, and respect, maintaining a calm environment to help ease confusion or agitation.

Mrs. Gandy became a deeply cherished client, and I am grateful to have played a part in her care journey. She has since gone to be with the Lord, and I pray she is now resting peacefully.
