As a nursing assistant, I do patient care activities, assisting in daily activities in a way that patient's are safe, and ensuring that they feel comfortable and allowing them to be as independent as they can. Within the unit I work in, Cardiac Medicine, I take patient's vitals every four hours, occasional blood sugars, preparing patient's for procedures or test, collecting specimens in the correct way, as well as having to be attentive to what changes that may occur after a procedure. Documentation for intake and output of patients is critical on the unit due to a large portion of our patients having congestive heart failure, on-time documenting ensures that the cardiologist can be given the information to provide appropriate medical care to patients.

As the unit secretary I help the charge nurse with admissions and discharges, ordering supplies for the unit, consulting doctor offices or doctors themselves on patient's presenting issues, and contacting other hospital systems to acquire patient information if needed. Another responsibility I have is to transfer with care medical equipment, lab test, specimens, and even patients themselves.

During my time as a sales associate I would assist customers with needs such as locating or acquiring items along with being a cashier, restocking and maintaining presentability of shelves and unloading merchandise with appropriate techniques from trucks.
