  • Special assignments include Jail Training Officer Coordinator, ICS contact for inmate phones and tablets, Black Creek contact for the Jail Management System, back up Department Safety Officer, and assistance to the department training coordinator.
  • Administrative Sergeant- Over 3 years total experience: Duties included but not limited to; Supervising alternative custody staff and inmates, managing and daily auditing of electronic monitoring systems (veritracks), Booking “to appear inmates” into the jail management system for program participation, and supervision of the Administrative Secretary, custody records staff, maintenance and kitchen staff
  • I was an active member of the Drug Court and Behavioral Health Court Teams, supervising participants, completing home and person searches of the participants, and attending weekly team meetings

  • Inmate Discipline Hearing Officer, one part of the administrative level response to inmate grievances
  • Completed and submitted 1381 requests
  • I was an active member of the quarterly jail quality assurance meetings, these meetings included members from Public Health, Mental Health, and jail nursing staff just to mention a few to collaborate and ensure inmates within the jail were receiving all necessary care while addressing concerns from any inmate or county partner.

Jail Training Officer

  • 10 years total experience: Under direction of the Sergeant, completing daily and weekly evaluations of new employees
  • Evaluations included documentation of both satisfactory and unsatisfactory work performance
  • If the trainee’s performance was found to be unsatisfactory, I provided them with a demonstration of the failed task, while explaining the reason and policy needed for adherence of the task
  • My remedial training of unsatisfactory performance rarely had the trainee fail to respond to training
  • Often while a JTO, I would be tasked with acting as an Officer in Charge of various shifts ensuring the smooth daily operations of the jail facility.

Transportation Officer

  • 5 Years total experience: Under the direction of a Correctional Sergeant, While in Transportation, I oversaw transportation arrangements for all inmates either coming to or leaving the Tehama County Jail
  • I also handled transportation to other custody facilities, including but not limited to County, State, and Federal facilities inside and outside of California
  • I worked with allied agencies and often assisted them when possible ferrying inmates between facilities to get them to their destination
  • I often worked with the Northwest Shuttle System, by preparing detailed expenditure sheets, obtaining the District Attorney’s agreement for prosecution, and working with allied agencies to bring fugitives from justice back to Tehama County
  • Additional - 2 years total experience: In 2021, I was invited and participated in the Title 15 Executive Steering Committee
  • As part of the steering committee, we reviewed 6 sections of title 15 and as a team made any changes in the interest of the offenders and organizations
  • In 2022, at the direction of Jail Administration, I oversaw the introduction of tablets to our inmate population opening them up to online education which had been lacking in our facility
  • In 2023, I was invited and participated as a subject matter expert in the ACO Angoff meeting through BSCC
  • BSCC will provide a test that is prepared by them for applicants that are applying for adult facilities
  • The ACO Angoff meeting reviewed and updated the test that BSCC will provide to departments to use, when hiring correctional deputies to work in adult facilities.
