Kidney Referral and Logistics Coordinator

  • Serves as a call center for evaluation of initial donor kidney referrals from Organ Procurement Organizations (OPOs) or Transplant Centers and works with the Team Lead to either accept for clinical preservation or decline
  • Medically assess kidney offer and accompanying documentation to determine if kidney has potential for normothermic machine perfusion (NMP)
  • Arranges transportation of the organ to the 34 Lives and then arranges transportation of the kidney from 34 Lives to the accepting transplant center
  • Notifies perfusion on-site team of kidney’s arrival and creates record in kidney perfusion software with updates as necessary.
  • Accompanies the organ if flying to the transplant center and provides updates to the transplant surgeon and coordinator as needed
  • Responsible for closing out the electronic record of the kidney when said kidney arrives at the transplant center.
  • Provides a report of status of all kidneys they are currently responsible for and status to oncoming Kidney Preservationist after shift.
  • Responsible for the clinical team perfusing kidneys - reviewing clinical data and ensuring data quality throughout the perfusion.
  • Responsible for the management of kidneys at the perfusion site. This includes the documentation/packaging and communication with the transplant centers.
  • Responsible for reporting adverse events to the Director of Operations (DOP) within 34 Lives protocols and safety monitoring for any kidney they were responsible for.
  • Responsible for the status of the procedure room post perfusion in anticipation for the next NEVKP.
  • Provides strategic input into clinical/regulatory development plans.
  • Participates in the planning of clinical review meetings and other scientific committees.
  • Reviews clinical protocols, study reports, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Follow up on transplanted kidneys as instructed and documentation of additional data.
  • Collaborates with pre-clinical and translational medicine colleagues in assessing the potential of new NMP therapeutic development.
