During the large gap in my work history, I have been caregiving for a family member with a terminal illness, and during that time I also became a stay at home mother. Now that my daughter is 10 years old and is in school full time, I am eager to find employment that will allow me to continue being a great mother to my daughter, while also giving me work experience.
My aunt was diagnosed with stage 4 stomach cancer and she had a 3 year old. I embraced the role of her and her daughter's caregiver while she fought cancer. I prepared meals, cleaned her home, tended to whatever need she might have, and I also did everything that was needed for her child. I would get her dressed, drop her off and pick her up from preschool, prepare her meals, attend her school events, and I would also make sure she could visit her mother during hospital stays.
I provided care for the two of them entirely until she passed in 2016.
