Lyla Thayer

I am a dedicated and hardworking student who has pursued dual credit courses since my sophomore year of high school. To date, I have completed 15 dual enrollment classes and 2 Advanced Placement (AP) courses. My weighted GPA is 4.806, and my cumulative GPA is 3.957, ranking me 12th out of 454 students in my class. Throughout high school, I have also taken 13 honors classes.

In addition to academics, I joined the Damonte Ranch tennis team in my sophomore year and have been a competitive dancer since I was 7 years old, with a passion for dance that began at the age of 3. I have earned numerous awards, including being a two-time All-State Academic Team member, Maximum Velocity Artist runner-up, and a first-place winner at both the Fly Dance Competition and Axis Dance Competition. I was also a Starbound National Finalist and National Elite Winner for two consecutive years and received the Lollapalooza Ballet Scholarship for two consecutive years. Additionally, I was recognized as a Starbound Photogenic Winner and an Axis Photogenic Winner.

As a leader, I served as the dance captain at Creative Edge Dance Studio for two consecutive years. I am also committed to giving back to my community. I have tutored students at the Damonte Ranch Homework Club and Math Club, and I volunteer as an assistant teacher at Creative Edge Dance Studio, working with special needs "Tiny Dancers" and assisting with rehearsal preparation for the competition dance team. My FAFSA score is 25883.
