EMS Operational Supervisor

  • Supervision role that included oversight of daily operations, clinical oversight, delegation of duties, scheduling, personnel, and training.
  • Aided in the implementation of CCRS's Drug Box Program. This included the gaining of a Controlled Substance Registration, DEA license number, and a CSOS certificate to order narcotics. Also implemented an inventory system, held in-house and First Responder trainings, and kept proper documentation and inspections to comply with the federal government and the Virginia Board of Pharmacy.
  • Served as the Responsible Party with the DEA for the Drug Box Program and ensured proper handling of all medications, including controlled substances.
  • Ensured compliance with state and federal EMS regulations, Employee Handbook, and CCRS Standard of Operating Guidelines.
  • Researched, wrote, and implemented additional protocols to include operational procedures as well as medication additions.
  • Received provider and patient complaints, investigated incidents, and ensured resolutions – to include reporting incidents to the OMD as well as the state Office of EMS.
  • Researched, trained, and implemented new software that includes scheduling, time clocks, forums, checklists, and messaging for a smooth daily operation.
  • Currently working closely with the Public Safety Director, Administrative Supervisor, Board of Directors, and county Board of Supervisors to formulate a plan to create a county EMS system.

Each quarterly report is then sent and approved via Dr. Yee, OMD. Through this QA program, every single call that is answered via CCRS is measured for quality assurance.
  • Acted as the liaison between CCRS and our OMD.
  • Performed a variety of record-keeping and administrative duties. This to include duties of the Administrative Supervisor in his or her absence.
  • Gained and applied knowledge in how to submit information to the billing company with ePCRs and insurance information.
  • Have written grants (such as RSAF) to aid in supplying CCRS with much needed equipment.
  • Established relationships with larger agencies, such as Duke Life Flight, to foster better communication and working dynamics to optimize patient care for critical calls.
  • Established and maintained relationships with Centra One, a primary air ambulance transport that CCRS utilizes. We were able to develop protocols together as well as host in-person training for current protocols as well as more invasive procedures that are crucial in a rural setting with extended transport times.
  • Established relationships with hospital and air medical liaisons throughout the commonwealth to gain patient follow-ups for clinical knowledge for providers.
  • Researched and implemented new health insurance plans for full-time employees.
