I was able me join and work with highly skilled medical professionals and enabled me work on medical projects like the Aurora project enhancing my ability to work under pressure,with team and also independently.As a Mayo Clinic intern and Volunteer helped me get a better day to day medical and patient care experience from shadowing physicians and surgeons in clinic and visiting different work areas like Labs improving my knowledge about healthcare. My ability to work under pressure and my dedication to service-oriented tasks have prepared me for challenging roles in healthcare.

  • Attended the AURORA workshop with the fellows to discuss ways to modify the AURORA curriculum of the project at large.
  • Shadowed two general and breast cancer surgeons, in their clinical rotations which gave me exposure to how health care is provided behind the scenes, not as a patient.
  • Shadowed a physician in gastroenterology and hepatology gave me a different perspective on how similar and different the clinical rotations could be, depending on what your profession is.
  • Presented about the Overall experience at the end of the Internship Celebration, which inspired people from different Career departments to join the Aurora Campaign.

  • Personally worked with different Mayo surgery department members and inter disciplinary teams to develop the Aurora Project.
  • Attended simulation lab practices with the fellows, giving me a chance to work on skills like suturing, ultrasound scanning, mastectomy, and sebaceous wound closure.
  • Shadowed in one of the pathology labs at Eiseignburg, which enabled me to observe how pathologists work effectively with the surgeons, even during the surgical procedures, to provide better care to the patients. It also gave me a chance to observe how the frozen section procedure works, and how effectively they all worked together as a team in the lab.
  • Met with different health care personnel from various health career sectors, such as Mark Henderson (Information Technology), Dr. Chris Pierret (Microbiology and Molecular Sciences), Ms. Auodia Stacy, MBA, Dr. Sandya Pruthi (Internal Medicine), and many more, which gave me the chance to connect with them and have a better understanding of them as individuals, and the jobs they were representing.
  • visited other health departments at Mayo, like the Gastroenterology department, which provided good insight into many career paths at the Mayo Clinic.
  • Presented about my overall experience as a Mayo intern at our end-of-internship celebration party.
