Graduated from Burlington Central High School, where I competed in both Football and Baseball all 4 years of high school. Team captain for both Football and Baseball Junior and Senior year, as well as earning State All-Academic team Senior year. I attended Elgin Community College where I earned my Associates Degree with honors. After that, I took Elgin Community College's Basic Operations Firefighter class. In that class, I humbly earned class valedictorian, as well as the class leadership award that was voted on by my peers.
Each morning when I am on shift, I come in and get my gear, radio and passport tags in place for the shift. I do a daily check on the ambulance every morning, making sure that no drugs are expired, everything is in the correct spots and all equipment is functioning properly. I make sure that the daily chores get done, as well as running calls, throughout the shift.
For the summer, I helped out with the Village of Hoffman Estates Public Works FAST team. Each morning, I would drive a village vehicle all around the town, picking up mail and items that would need to be sent to the post office. After that was done, I would do several things, from regrading front lawns, fixing water supply lines or inspecting sidewalks for repairs.
Each shift, I would come in a make a set up. A set up would include where everybody would be positioned at for that shift. I would make the necessary moves to make sure that everything was running smoothly, including getting people their breaks, and dealing with the money in the restaurant.
