This was a seasonal summer position. At Staples, I was asked to perform simple tasks like cashiering, stocking products and most of all making sure the customers always walked out satisfied. This helped for the better of my communication skills, speaking two languages only enhanced the interaction between me and the customer, even my co-workers. I was asked to take long hours for the better of Staples and executed every objective that they asked from me.
GC Youth Bureau is a first time work experience for youth aged 14-15. At a young age this job taught me patience on hot summer days but more than anything taught me how to work hard even when it's something you're not looking forward to at that particular time. There wasn't much time for slacking and if you wanted to make it easy on yourself it required both hands on deck to try and cut the day in half. I worked with peers my age, so, leadership roles had to be filled out on a maturity level. We went around our community and surrounding towns, cleaning up litter, helping the needy, assisting the elderly; even did certain deeds for the city of Glen Cove like painting old fire hydrants, even moving in furniture to our very own City Hall. I knew the only way to beat a long day was with an upbeat tempo to be able to get to all assignments. Most importantly, for a first job i was able to own my mistakes and hold myself accountable for them with great effort day in and day out.
