  • Rigorous in-patient training on medicine floors, medical ICU and cardiac ICU with exposure to varied patient populations at four different teaching hospitals including a tertiary referral center Buffalo General Hospital, Veterans Hospital, Erie County Medical Center, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Centre
  • Admit and manage inpatients with general adult medical illnesses including performing histories and physical examinations, rounding on patients, writing progress notes, discharge planning and timely completion of discharge summaries
  • Discuss all medical admissions with emergency room, ICU, and clinic physicians to ensure clinical appropriateness of admission to general medical floors
  • Work closely with specialists and primary care physicians to ensure that inpatients receive continuous high-quality care

Elmwood Hertel Medicine Centre (Primary Care Clinic)
  • Manage a patient panel consisting of adults and seniors with a broad array of needs and backgrounds at a busy, fast paced residency continuity clinic (see my own patients as well as urgents every 5 weeks)
  • Conduct a mix of acute, chronic and well visits including medicare wellness visits
  • Diagnose, develop and implement evidence-based, patient centered treatment plans for a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses
  • Coordinate and manage patient care, including referrals to specialists and follow-up care
  • Provide health coaching and education to patients on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and self-care management
  • Be available by phone for emergency calls
  • Collaborate with extended team members to provide patient-centric care (such as Pharm D, Mental Health providers, Dieticians, RN, LVN, MA etc.)
  • Precept and teach medical students.
