Spanish Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT) Program

• Transcribing brief five minute parent-child interactions utilizing PRT components adapted from English to Spanish.
• Behaviorally coding parent-child interactions to collect data on the level of mastery of the PRT treatment for Spanish-speaking families after a brief 6-week intervention.
• Performing statistical and qualitative analysis.

Social Tools And Rules for Teens (START) - Dating 06/22-08/22

• Transcribed and coded participant interviews in search for common themes, challenges, experiences of adults with autism in their dating and relationship experiences.
• Thematically analyzed qualitative data from participant interviews to inform a social skills intervention program to aid in initiating/maintaining romantic relationships.
• Gathered, arranged, and corrected research data to create representative charts highlighting results for the annual McNair Summer Research Conference.

• Collaborated with other board members to develop and execute our Healing Our Community conference as aligned with our organizational mission.
• Focused teams on various task forces to ensure the smooth and strategic planning of our outreach event.

Westside Community Needs Assessment 06/22-08/22

• Administered community needs assessment per CASPER in conjunction with Cottage Health and Santa Barbara Public Health.
• Participated in group meetings to assess and evaluate survey needs and outcomes of predominantly Latinx, underserved, low-income communities.
• Trained on how to approach and interact with underserved community members in a sensitive and appropriate manner.

Rise and Shine Summer Program 06/22-08/22

• Provided a safe space for at-promise youth females to feel connected and create healing space.
• Noted the attainment of the activity administered, program goals, and observed impact on the students.
• Facilitated group discussion with at-promise youth (12-14 years old) to promote a sense of empowerment, control over their emotions, various coping strategies, and healthy eating.

Legacy Summer Program 06/22-08/22

• Empowered at-promise youth through holistic and cultural wellness, providing them ways to address and explore mental health.
• Organized, participated, and engaged with at-promise youth (13-15 years old) to promote a sense of connectedness, create a healing space, and explore various coping strategies with community mentors.
• Composed detailed field notes of the observed impact and attainment of goals with at-promise youth.

Community Health Task Force 06/21-09/21

• Researched resources available for community members who do not have the financial stability to afford adequate healthcare, food, and other resources.
• Communicated with health organizations to obtain accurate information and point of references for a directory being created for the farmworker community of Ventura County.
• Documented and presented findings in weekly meetings.

• Supported engaging, fun, and smooth-running events by helping with check-in ensuring children had name tags and were paired with a volunteer.
• Represented the center positively and professionally while providing parents of the community with much-needed services.
• Assisted in creating a safe space for children with autism to play by utilizing ABA skills.

• Provided one-on-one Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy for a variety of neurodivergent clients (2 year old, 5 year old, and 12 year old) in clinical setting.

• Translated documents from English to Spanish to be distributed in workshops and used in curriculum creation
• Created a referral list of Psychologists in the Santa Barbara and Ventura County area who are bilingual so the Latinx community can more readily find adequate mental health resources.

• Coordinated group discussions and activities to cognitively engage elderly with Alzheimer's in support of research of such activities slowing down the disease.
• Approached issues proactively to best meet current community needs such as adjusting curriculum based on the differing elderly homes needs.
• Lead groups via Zoom during COVID-19 to engage elderly in cognitively enriching activity packets.
