Senior Maintenance Mechanic

2nd Shift Senior Maintenance Mechanic for a hazardous industrial production plant (PPG), manufacturing “Liquid Nails” Adhesives.

  • One of my many responsibilities included plant wide shutdown and lock up every week at the end of the week, for my entire duration of employment. I Also trained incoming junior maintenance personnel on our shut down procedures and security system procedures.
  • Trained junior mechanics on best practices for machinery troubleshooting and repair to mitigate downtime and loss of production.
  • Developed documentation for maintenance procedures, promoting consistency and knowledge sharing with the maintenance team and management. Implementing preventative maintenance schedules to improve machinery performance and extending equipment lifespan.
  • Worked with vendors and contractors to learn standard processes and procedures on equipment to then create one point lessons in house and properly train incoming maintenance personnel to quickly, efficiently and proactively plan for repairs and upkeep on machinery to help mitigate any downtime for Maintenance.
  • Did preventative maintenance services weekly ranging from, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual services done on all equipment plant wide
  • Safely Troubleshot electrical systems involving 3-PHASE power in energized control cabinets and electrical rooms, in compliance with LOTO and site safety standards. With Real-time hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting, working with brands like Allen Bradley/ Rockwell automation, schneider electric, siemens, Omron, Keyence, sick, etc.
  • Experienced with Servo motor systems, programming, VFD’s, PLC’s, HMI’s, Safety interlock’s, different types of contactors, different types of sensors, light curtains, etc.
  • Worked on, troubleshot, repaired and familiar with machinery such as Chillers, Air compressors, Dust collectors, Hydraulics, Hydraulic power units, pneumatics, Case packers, conveyers, stretch wrappers, Prosys filling machines, Centrifugal pumps, diaphragm pumps, transfer pumps, Valves, actuators, etc.
  • Our Maintenance Engineering manager appointed me as “Gatekeeper” of our most important machine (Line 9). A priority 1 production line (prosys) that our plant used to fill our “Liquid Nails” tubes such as “Fuze-it” , “Fuze-it MAX” and “FLEX 5”.
  • (Line 9/Fuze It) Under my supervision and long hours, this newly installed custom prosys filling machine reached over 1 million tubes sold for our standard Fuze-it product. With our Liquid nails flex 5 and Liquid nails Fuze it MAX also being successfully tested and granted final approval as i worked side by side with formulation chemist/ product development scientist to fine tune these products and apply it in real time to the filling machine and batch mixing to achieve parameter optimization and process validation.
  • Worked on, Troubleshot, and repaired our yard truck, floor sweeper, Forklifts and Pallet jacks in house to mitigate spending costs for contractors .(Electric walkie pallet jacks designed for hazardous environments, ranging from the standard Toyota and Yale 4,500-6,000-pound load capacity jacks to our Heavy duty “RICO” Pallet jacks capable of 12,000-pound capacity).
  • Went through “confined space” training and successfully completed multiple “confined space” missions.

  • Enrolled in Ryders “pathway home” program and trained for 3 months prior to exiting the military. I Completed the 3-month long program and received my certificate. I Started with Ryder as a certified T-2 technician. Worked for a solid 8 months until companywide pay cuts hit our location and i got laid off due to least seniority at the shop within my Ryder location. (Company policy). "Laid off due to business conditions; eligible for rehire". My Shop location Manager offered me opportunities to return on several different occasions but i had already found gainful employment by that time. Company has also expressed interest in rehiring me multiple times at different locations as workloads increase.

As a Certified T2 technician my daily duties would focus on troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining commercial diesel vehicles.

  • service orders, repair logs, maintain vehicle service history with documentation and company software. communicating and coordinating with supervisor about ongoing repairs, delays, or parts needed.
  • Traveled in company service vehicles to do on-site field diagnosing and repairing for our customers. Also handling parts pick-ups from our local vendors frequently.

91B Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic

U.S. ARMY Active-duty contract as a 91B wheeled Vehicle mechanic. (Completed Active-duty contract) for 3 and a half years then to ETS with an honorable discharge and I Went to school with RYDER for 3 months before exiting the military and starting a full-time civilian mechanic/technician job with Ryder.

  • Supervised a team of 10 soldiers and shop floor operations.
  • Mentored, trained and supervised junior soldiers in vehicle repair and safety procedures.
  • Maintained vehicle readiness for deployment, maintained over 75 diesel powered vehicles placed under my supervision over the course of 3 years.
  • Also helped maintain multiple (MEP) mobile electric power 15kW and 30kW Diesel powered generators that were capable of providing 3-phase 120V, 208v and 240v. Designed for extended continuous operation.
  • Signed for, responsible for and operated out of our companies "contact truck" (Mechanic vehicle containing over $200,000 USD in tools). Vehicle was mainly used in coordination with recovery missions, field missions, or deployment environments where we needed mobile repairs and tools. Also rode as passenger/spotter in our wrecker for recovery missions or towing missions. successfully and safely operated, towed and recovered military vehicles weighing up to 52 tons in weight.
  • Received 3 separate recommendations and recognitions from organization leaders for demonstrating maintenance excellence.
  • While deployed overseas i discovered an abandoned 5-ton military truck that had been completely stripped for parts and drained of all fluids. With permission from higher ups i took on the side mission to restore it. performing extensive repairs including rewiring the entire vehicle with a new wiring harness, replacing fuses, the ECM, TCM, motherboard and relay board. Replacing starter, transmission and doing a full service on the engine, suspension and live axles replacing all seals. Then ensuring its safe return to the U.S. where it joined our units' fleet.
  • Also handled SAP materials management and logistics for service orders, maintenance and parts coordination, vehicle dispatches for vehicle use, and parts inventory using the SAP system, ensuring timely repairs and operational readiness.
