Overview

Work History

Volunteer Research Assistant

University of Miami Professor Micheal Fischer
09.2024 - Current
  • Working with professor Micheal Fischer and other student volunteers with the goal of producing a machine learning model which can accurately predict tilt in Tropical Cyclones with potential forecasting applications.
  • Participated actively in regular meetings with fellow researchers and students to discuss project updates, challenges faced, and lessons learned during ongoing activities.
  • Developed skills in python and random forest machine learning models
  • Learned about structure, tilt, and intensity change in Tropical Cyclones

Volunteer Research Assistant

Protist Prophets Project
09.2024 - Current
  • Worked with a group of professors and students with the goal of using foraminifera genus abundances across many sample sites globally in order to better understand different aspects of reef health using these foraminifera as indicators.
  • Assisted in sample development by collecting and identifying foraminifera.
  • Learned about or developed skills in microscope use, coral reef health, and the role of foraminifera as environmental indicators.
  • Committed 2 hours per day to in person lab work, 10 hours weekly.
