Work History

Medical Assistant

Family Medicine Specialists
10.2024 - 06.2025
  • I am proficient in EPIC, Athena, and other programs like Okta, MICR, and Pneumo Recs.
  • Directed patients to exam rooms, fielded questions, and prepared for physician examinations.
  • Maintained a safe and clean clinical environment by adhering to infection control guidelines and disposing of biohazardous waste properly.
  • Assisted physicians with minor surgeries, including preparing operating room and sterilizing instruments.
  • Prepped patient charts for the next day and got any paperwork ready that was needed including narcotic contracts, well child forms, MICR printouts, and prepared Medicare form for doctor for all Medicare annual wellness exams.
  • Performed any lab work needed including A1C, glucose, PT & INR, urinalysis, urine culture, biopsies, mono testing, strep throat testing, Covid testing, Influenza testing,
  • Injected immunizations to both children and adults.
  • Hooked patients up to ECG machine and ran report for physician, affixed Biotel Holter Monitors on patients and educated patient on it, ran spirometer testing, tested vision and hearing for Medicare annual exams, and also performed a Mini Cog for every Medicare annual and if needed I also ran a MOCHA.
  • Aided in lab cleanup including autoclave instruments and checking temps on all fridges twice a day and putting out the lab box at the end of the day.
  • On Wednesday my doctor was off so I was cross trained and would work triage on those days taking messages and redirecting calls.
  • I was in charge of handling all of the incoming messages to my provider and answering ones I could and sending other ones to her inbox. This included patient call messages and my chart messages. I also was in charge of prescription refills electronically and by fax. Most medications I was able to refill without needing doctor approval but certain ones had to go to her like controlled substances.
  • I was also in charge of all of my providers oncoming and outgoing paperwork. I had a huge pile of papers every day I had to sort through. Any orders needing a signature I was able to stamp and fax back on my own without provider approval as long as it was her patient and everything checked out in Epic for that patient. If it needed a signature handwritten I would then give it to the provider.
  • During the day in between rooming patients I would get phone calls from patients asking specifically for me and I would take the calls. I also had a few patients that came in for nurse visits for PT and INR and allergies injections and I was the only one that they would let do it.
  • Order any lab work, x rays, testing, and referrals through EPIC.
  • VERY good with phlebotomy. At my last position, I was in charge of teaching new assistants how to draw blood
