A highly motivated first-year medical student with a strong interest in musculoskeletal and orthopedic research. Seeking an opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in an orthopedic lab while building some understanding of clinical research methodologies and biomechanics.
I aided in screening the uninsured population of Jackson for eye-health issues as well as prescribing and purchasing glasses. I gained proficiency in taking histories, triaging patients, communicating with a team, and working technologies such as an auto-refractor.
Worked with a medical team to effectively and efficiently care for underserved patients in the Jackson community by prescribing medication, screening for illnesses, and drawing labs.
My team and I worked to create a neonatal CPR manikin. The goal was to make the manikin easy to build and cost effective so that it could be recreated in underserved areas. We were successful in creating a training manikin that was both anatomically correct and was effective in training others on neonatal CPR technique. My main role was to perform compression tests on possible materials to be used in the manikin.
