I am a single Mom to my 12 year old Son who is Non Verbal autistic. I currently am on my 5th year at Runnymede Elementary School as a Student Support Assistant. Since day one I have been looking to be a Special Education Instructional Assistant as I enjoy working with multiple disabilities. I understand and take notice how a teacher runs his or her classroom. I understand the struggle and frustration of challenging behaviors and like helping children get through their tough time by using behavior strategies also while using visual supports if needed to help calm a student. I also am a part of Celebrate Ability Autism waiver Services providing intensive individual support services.
Not only do I want this job, I am also in need of the health benefits. I suffer from an eye disease called Keratonous. I no longer am able to wear glasses. State insurance will not help pay for Scleral lenses and because I have their insurance they will not allow me to pay out of pocket.
I also would love to open an ABLE Account for my Son but am unable to do so because his disability is used for bills and food to get by. By making the extra money I hope to not use his and he can have money put away for when I am no longer here.
Although I am looking to pursue my Paraprofessional I ask that you please do not over look me because I don’t have a degree. I ask that you do not over look me because something is written on paper. My experiences are hands on and what is written on paper does bot show my abilities.
Thank you for taking the time to read and look over my resume.
Sincerely
Meagan E. Byers
Special Education Student Support Assistant.
