As a sales associate for one of the leading shoe companies in the world, I have learned to deal with high product demand. I have worked in every position in the store, from working on the shoe deck, to cashiering, to working in the stock room. As a Vans employee, it is important to keep up with the ever-changing styles in addition to the time tested classics to better serve our customers. Vans prides itself on its reputation for having excellent customer service and a loyal following, and I am constantly motivated to do my best because of this. In April I was promoted to a Sales Lead, which is the entry level management position. I was now also in charge of my peers and handling customer service issues when they arose. In October I was promoted again to Floor Supervisor, where i was entrusted with keys to the store, and I close and open the store by myself.
While interning with the Walt Disney Company I will be working as a cast member in Walt Disney World. I am looking forward to making magic wherever my role is placed.
I co-created the first student run Seminar Informal Curriculum Event at Saint Mary's College of California in partnership with my club, SCAAR (Student Coalition Against Abuse and Rape). The event is titled "Facing the Canon: Women in Violence in Seminar Texts", and focuses on the extreme violence commonly overlooked in the Western Canon. During the next year of the event, I created a sister event entitled "Facing the Canon: Racism in Seminar Texts" which faces the racism that poisons most of the literary canon.
While being the event planner of SCAAR at Saint Mary's, I have done presentations about sexual assault and organized various events advocating for survivors.
Riverrun is a student led literary magazine at Saint Mary's College of California. I worked as the co-lead editor of the poetry section. I read through all of the submissions and deliberated and chose pieces to be published. I also copy-edited the poems.
As a One Love Facilitator, I am trained to facilitate a seminar teaching healthy relationships. I navigated difficult conversations surrounding domestic violence and gave students the tools in which to discuss these difficult topics.
As the Assistant Swim Coach of my high school's team, I aid the head coach in whatever way he deems fit. Whether that be day to day coaching on the pool deck or creating lineups for our swim meets. I used problem-solving and organizational skills in order to complete these tasks.
As a supervisor at CREAM I managed my fellow coworkers and kept them on track for the various tasks we were assigned with. I also made sure that they were performing to the best of their abilities and providing excellent customer service.
