  • As part of a team, efficiently managed the creation, tracking, and closure of over 2,000 facility workrequests in the DMLSS work request module each month.   • Check out responsibilities: Schedule patient follow up appointments, and appointments at a different department within BSWH organization. Including diagnostic X-ray testing and laboratory appointments. Review of referrals and diagnostic testing for authorization thru the insurance if needed to be processed and completed by the patient scheduled date. Accurately schedule, prepare and communicate appointment details and necessary financial information to facilitate timely arrival, appointment preparedness, preparation testing, and optimal reimbursement, in accordance with system and operating guidelines.
  • Answer the incoming phone calls, schedule patients, and transcribe messages to the provider or clinical staff and route appropriately. Provide accurate, valid and complete information to patients by using the correct methods and tools provided by BSWH. Identify emergent health situations based on the caller information obtained and coordinate immediate triage with clinical staff. Ensure accurate creation of new accounts in Epic EMR system to avoid the creation of duplicate accounts and verify insurance at time of scheduling.
  • DAR preparation for appointments. Review that the appointments are scheduled correctly in the appropriate slots. Verify insurance benefits and run Recondo system for correct collection due at time of the appointment. Review insurance for proper authorizations to ensure it is obtained and active for the date of service for plans that are HMO.
  • Transcribe messages on behalf of patients, caregivers and healthcare professionals to clinic administrative and provider staff. Train new PSS on the specific department scheduling rules and Epic to ensure a smooth transition into the department. Work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff and other departments to ensure optimal patient care and customer service standards.
