As Assistant Director I attended the WE Lead Academy and graduated in 2019. The WE LEAD academy is a program of End Domestic Abuse Wisconsin, that builds new leadership within the movement to end gender-based violence by providing hands-on leadership development opportunities for survivors of violence and/or people from Wisconsin’s underserved or underrepresented communities. WE LEAD I learned about key leadership concepts, theories & practices of the prevention & intervention of gender-based violence, including its root causes of oppression, power & privilege; built & enhanced skill & capacity as a leader and agent of change. I Became a part of a group of socially conscious advocates & ally leaders committed to ending gender-based violence through new & innovative ways and was able to become part of a network system with various agencies in the State of Wisconsin.
I have held various positions through out my 20 years of experience at Oakwood Haven. I started from the lowest position there was, the Advocates Assistant and worked my way to the position of Assistant Director. I have experienced and soaked in every aspect of the program during that time. I have proved able to work in a stressful work environment. I have proven to be an asset to clients. I have simultaneously been and advocate as well as a program leader for many years. I know the program inside and out, and am familiar with the grants and grant activities. I have also written the grants for DCF Children's services that have provided help to the Children of the Lac Courte Orielles Reservation for many years. I did all of this while also completing my education. I have attended many trainings through the years that pertained to advocacy and directorship.
