Provide care to patients in a high-acuity, 24-bed Intensive Care Unit. Provide quality nursing care to patients; implement specific procedures and programs; coordinate patient care within the department, as well as with other departments.

• Assist the RN or Physician with special procedures such as DMR care, Emptying drains, suctions of chest tubes
• Set up sterile field and assist physicians with line placements and chest tube insertions
• Phlebotomy – drawing blood from arterial lines as delegated
• Assists patients with activities of daily living (i.e., dressing, toileting, positioning and nourishment)
• Discontinue arterial lines, sheaths, Foley catheters, and I.V’s
• Insertion of peripheral IVs and Foley Catheters
• Stock room and unit with supplies

• Answered call lights and supported patient comfort and safety by adjusting bed rails and equipment.
• Promoted good oral and personal hygiene by aiding patients with shaving, bathing, and teeth brushing.
• Checked patient vitals such as temperature, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels.
• Assisted with feeding and monitored intake and output to help patients achieve nutritional objectives.
• Utilized therapeutic communication, empathy and active listening skills to encourage and develop positive relationships with patients.
• Completed activities of daily living for patients unable to self-care, and assisted those with limited mobility in completing tasks.
• Changed linens in rooms, keeping spaces fresh and clean for patient health and satisfaction.
• Documented patient information and care activities in electronic health records.
• Helped patients complete range of motion exercises to prevent loss of function during care.
• Upheld infection control and prevention policies across different patient-facing areas.
