Hard working radiologic technologist with 18 years of licensed experience. My first six years of diagnostic experience gained in a busy Level II trauma emergency department at Kern Medical Center on the night shift. While picking up tricks of the trade in the ER trenches, was fortunate to pick up some Spanish along the way with the help of some caring colleagues. An additional six years were spent gaining invaluable experience in Kern Medical Center's cardiac catheterization lab/Interventional Radiology Suite, all the while keeping diagnostic radiology skills sharp. Any given day can start with a routine wrist from orthopedic clinic, roll into a barium enema, cover a Urology case in OR , and end the day with a traumatic Splenic arteriogram with embolization. The past six years being diagnostic radiology and fluoroscopic services in a Outpatient Clinic and Surgery Center setting. Always ready for an honest days work and willing to roll with the ever changing demands of a busy radiology department, regardless of what is thrown into my path, during designated work hours and after hours on call.

During employment with Centric Urgent care my duties were not just of the radiologic nature. In addition to obtaining radiographic images and archiving imaging reports, I became well versed in front office as well as back office routine. Registration of patients, booking appointments, fielding phone calls, and verifying insurance/co pay were all skills gained. Some back office skills learned included obtaining vitals and placing the patient in the room, preparing the patient for the doctor. Preparation included creating a new patient profile with vitals, history, medications, surgeries, etc. or updating existing patient profile for return patients. Communication with physicians and support staff regarding patient treatment and followup. Calling in prescriptions to various local pharmacies was also a new skill. Checking the online fax system for lab and imaging results to be uploaded into patient charts was also performed. Insuring that onsite images performed were read and reported were also one of my duties. Housekeeping chores kept me busy during any downtime. Many new skills obtained during employment with this facility.

Honored to be recognized by my peers twice with Employee of the week within a years time. Have also been fortunate to receive a few "Shout Outs" from my peers as well as patients. Over the years I have had the pleasure to mentor numerous students from the same Radiologic Technology Program that I received my education through. Three separate classes were kind enough to ask me to speak at their pinning ceremonies. Though I was touched by the request, I didn't feel I could do them justice and declined. The next two classes that asked I gladly excepted. Such a humbling experience to speak to new graduates joining your profession and their family and friends.
