Summary

The Covid-19 pandemic has challenged Health Care facilities. As Nurse Managers, we are asked daily to be creative in fixing our present challenges. For myself, I am ready to consider a new area of Health Care/Nursing where I can still use my creativity, recruitment skills, and onboarding skills to help encourage and support Nurses and help grow this profession to continue to be strong in the future.

  • Supervised, directed and motivated high-quality performance from nursing staff.
  • Manage two different areas - 75 employees - Telemetry area and ICU
  • Payroll, Scheduling, and making sure all employees are up to date with all requirements, including licenses, BLS/ACLS, and vaccines.
  • Recruit staff and make sure orientation is successful.
  • Communicate with staff though regular Staff Meetings, Charge Nurse Meetings, Unit Council, and Huddles.
  • Encourage professional development so that my staff can reach their goals. (Certification, our Nurse Ladder Program, etc)

  • Delivered effective and differentiated classroom instruction to range of nurses, from med surge to ICU.
  • Collected data and presented to leadership. Goal precovid - for all three hospitals to move toward becoming Stroke Certified.

  • Worked with managers to determine educational needs and organize the best way for that education to occur.
  • Develop classes and teach on monthly basis. Developed curriculum for stroke and Basic Dysrhythmia class. Taught Basic Dys class for 7 years.
  • Part of team that developed CHI Memorial Nurse Residency program in 2015. We became the first PTAP Accredited Nurse Residency Program in the state of Tennessee in 2018.
  • Encouraged Professional Development.
  • Educated my areas on all new processes, equipment, etc.

  • 2013 - Present Nurse Professional Development and Recognition Council (Chair 2014-2019) Council at CHI Memorial responsible for Nurse Professional Ladder Program, Daisy Award, Nurse Appreciation and Recognition Week, Education Expo, Certification Recognition, and Advanced Awards.
  • 2018-Present PTAP Council. Ensure that CHI Memorial continues to meet and exceed the PTAP Certification/JACHO standards for our Nurse Residency Program.
  • 2020 - Organization of bringing MED-eD to CHI Memorial for an intense stroke workshop to give our nurses an opportunity to become SCRN Certified.
  • 2014, 2016, and 2018 - Organized the American Board of Cardiovascular Medicine to come to our facility for onsite workshop and Certification testing for Nurses to be CVRN-BC Certified. CHI Memorial has over 200 CVRN Nurses due to this program.
  • Along w/ a professional Videographer, I initiated and helped create 3 videos for CHI Memorial staff members - Bedside Report, Chest Pain to Cath Lab, and How to Call a Stroke Alert.
  • 2012 - 2018 Night Owl Organizer. To help bring communication and education to our Night shift staff.
  • 2014- 2018 Organizer of the CHI Memorial Mud Run Team.
