for me my mission is my platform "We The People". During the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year One of my teachers asked the class to write a short essay on why we stand or why we don’t stand for the plague/ national anthem. When I heard this assignment I thought it was a no brainer on why I stand and why others stand too! Turns out I was very wrong; in fact, I was 1 of only 3 out of a class of 35 students who chose to write about why we stand. To me this came as a shock and it was almost disheartening to see because for me standing for the Flag is a sign of respect for all those who served or are serving our country and those who have died for our freedoms. It means so much more to me coming from a huge military family and being a Navy brat. Also knowing so many first responders, nurse, doctors, police officers, fire fighters, EMTs, etc. that put their life on the line for our life and our family’s lives makes this a normal sign of respect. When it came time to hear my classmates speak on why they don’t stand I was kind of worried on what they were going to say. There was one common factor that every person who spoke had in common. They misunderstood the role of the military and the role of first responders across-the-board. Most of them if not all of them felt as if they weren’t actually there to protect and serve us. Some of them were even uneducated on what they do for us. So this is where “We The People” comes in.
“We The People” was started as a movement to bring people of all backgrounds and communities together to serve those who serve us. With education and understanding I believe that we can come together as a community and build back the bonds that were broken over these last couple of years. My goal is to show our United States Military, Police Force, Fire Force, EMS, first responders, Nurses, Doctors, Veterans, and their families that while they see unspeakable things every day, seeing the worst in society, and are constantly dodging bullets, running into fires or risking their health and safety for us, that we in return support them and have always got there 6!
