Community Projects

Mentoring Program - I founded and ran a mentoring program at my school. The purpose and goal of the mentoring program was to provide positive role-models of adults in the community for students who voluntarily wanted to expand their horizons.

  • Solicit volunteers
  • Field applications and conduct interviews
  • Successfully connected 12 students with 12 community adults for ten weeks
  • Positive feedback from the students and adults involved
  • Gained experience as a Coordinator

Volunteer Club - For two years I sponsored the Volunteer Club, Viking Volunteers. I love connecting teens and adults to opportunities to serve others in the community. The students initiated project ideas and I made the connections to people and resources to make their dreams come to fruition. We served the homeless, reached out to veterans and active duty soldiers, and did clothing drives for Dignity You Wear. Viking Volunteers became leaders in the community.

International Baccalaureate Community Project Coordinator - Students identified a need in the community and developed their own project or service idea for meeting that need. It was a very exciting process that last most of the year and was very fruitful for the personal development and empowerment of the students and adults involved, as well as benefiting the community.

  • Trained and monitored progress of 125 students in the program
  • Trained the adult sponsors
  • Collaborated with students and adults
  • Motivated peers and students
  • Graded the projects
  • Hosted a post-project celebratory recognition event to recognize our students' contributions
