A Technical Assistant in the radiology department means that my main purpose is to get a patient from their room in the hospital and bring them down to the department, safely and swiftly, to get any kind of image they need done or procedure they also may have. My first priority is to make sure that the patient is transported safely either by a wheelchair or their bed and to make sure they are knowledgeable of what they are having done. I love to make the patient laugh and feel good, comfortable, about being in a hospital to the best of my abilities or empathize in any way I can. I made employee of the month in the whole hospital after 6 months of being there due to how I was with the patients and all my hard work. I also advocated for all of us Assistants to get a raise due to the physical part and everything we have to do to get the patient down and got us raises. Part of the job also entailed me to do office tasks like: answering multi-line phone systems and transferring calls, sending images to other offices or facilities, faxing, uploading/downloading images to our PAC/Epic system and also checking in our outpatients that come in among all the other basic office tasks. My favorite thing is meeting all the patients, joking and talking with them, listening to their story.

As a Meter Maid I drove around the downtown area where there was meters to make sure they were paid and everyone was parked properly and not taking more than one spot at a time or they would get fined for that. Also giving instructions to a place they were looking for, giving visitors ideas on things to see or do in the town and socialize with people I may run into. I had to make sure that vendors and construction people had the right permits or knew how to obtain the permit needed.

Started doing maintenance at the Sargent Floyd Welcome Center with changing out light fixtures, making displays, yard work, snow blowing/removal, painted about every inch of that boat inside and outside by the time I left, the roof was very leaky and I had managed to find most of the leaks and fixed them, the engines had actually not been fully drained and had been very slowly leaking for years inside the boat causing a smell and a hard mess to clean but I made sure everything was tight and soldered some valves shut better and just added some life wherever I could. I was also there to greet visitors and tell them how the boat got there and the history of it with Lewis and Clark, ring them up on the cash register, make a deposit for the end of day sales. I would take school kids around the boat when they were there for a school trip and make sure they have fun. Help with any event we would have going on at the time.
