Summary

As a Frontline Supervisor (FLS) with the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS), I have supervised Agency operations throughout most of the state of Oregon for the past 8.5 years. While the primary goal of the agency is to ensure safe and wholesome food for the consuming public, it was my job to ensure the proper and efficient implementation of Federal Regulations and Agency Directives. I was responsible for setting up weekly staffing and annual leave schedules for 42 employees, training schedules for new hires, and ongoing mandatory trainings for my team members. In addition I ensured regulatory and employee issues were handled at the lowest possible level to facilitate the efficient running of my circuit.

One very important function of the FLS is to act as hiring manager for the circuit. As such I was responsible for ensuring adherence to all pertinent EEO regulations.

During my time as a USDA manager I have provided guidance to employees on the Agency's anti-harassment and anti-discrimination policies. I have also served as a Responding Management Official (RMO) in complaints filed by employees. This involvement coupled with my recent completion of the EEO Investigator training course has equipped me with basic knowledge and skills foundational to serve as an effective EEO Investigator.
