Hazard identification and risk assessment - conduct site inspections by performing throughout site assessments before, during and after excavation work to identify potential hazards and cave in risks, and evaluate ground stability.

Safety planning and procedures -develop safety plans, establish safe work zones, and establish emergency response and protocols.

PPE- ensure that workers and wearing PPE for excavation work, underground power line work and regularly inspect PPE for wear and tear making sure it meets regulatory standards and is functional for specific jobs.

Equipment safety and operation - inspect excavation equipment for proper maintenance ,power line equipment checks to make sure its in proper working order, and check equipment hazards by verifying that all equipment is operated according to manufacturer guidelines and that proper lockout/ tagout procedures are followed when necessary.

Monitoring and compliance with regulations - ensure that all excavation and underground power line work is in compliance with OSHA standards , utility strike prevention and work zone safety are also monitored.

Trenching and excavation safety- make sure trenching and excavation sites are properly supported with shoring, trench boxes, etc., conduct soil testing to evaluate soil and excavation depth is continuously monitored so that the site remains within safe limits.

Underground power line safety- verify power line locations and make sure they are marked , de-energize power line verification before excavation , ensure electrical work follows NESC and monitor for all electrical hazards.

Emergency preparedness training- conduct emergency response training , on-site first aid training , and coordinate with Medical response personnel.

Communication and documentation - document safety measures in detailed records, safety communication with safety briefings and hazard reporting

Ongoing training and education - safety workshops , new employee training through orientation and stay updated of new regulations and practices.
